Top Superstitions in Pakistani Culture
Well we Pakistanis have certain believes which are incorporated in person's life through our ancestors superstitious approach. I would love to share few superstitions in which we certainly believes.
Bad Luck
Ok so basically when we talk about bad luck then the very first thing that comes in our mind is "Nazr" or the "evil eye". So yes more than half population of Pakistan have such a strong belief in evil eyes. Basically it's no joking matter, and the thought is that if something is truly beautiful or truly incredible in any form or way, as truly savvy or truly lovely or truly rich, and is advantageous in some sense, then, at that point it can draw in the evil eye from individuals. Which means, if individuals envy you or assuming they truly notice that, occasionally regardless of whether it is emphatically, it can adversely influence that thing.
Another bad luck is considered when we leave our shoes upside down. Therefore people says that if you leave your shoes upside down then most probably bad luck is coming your way as it is being disrespectful to Allah Almighty.
Never discuss bad dreams because if you share it will come true. This is the other superstitions that is followed in Pakistan.
Food
Well, Pakistan have varieties of superstitions. The most common is that if you want a good luck before the big event then eat sweet yogurt before leaving the house. On the off chance that you have a major occasion coming up and you need it to go well then you ought to presumably eat like sweet yogurt or something sweet, I couldn't say whether it must be yogurt however you ought to eat something sweet prior to going out and beneficial things will happen to you.
Good Luck
We Pakistanis not only believes in bad lucks but in good lucks too. If a glass breaks than it symbolizes good luck i.e. evil is leaving you house and good luck is on the way. A glass breaking in your home symbolizes best of luck is coming your direction. Clearly you can't simply break your glass it doesn't work. Assuming you break glass purposefully, it doesn't work that way however on the off chance that you unintentionally break some glass that implies evil is going out and best thing will come or happen.
Another superstition is that if your right hand is itchy, then you are certainly becoming rich because this happens rarely.
Marriage
You all will be wondering that how much diversity is there in superstitions in Pakistani culture.
So, when talking about marriage than the most followed belief is that holding a Quran (Holy Book) above bride's head so that she has a happy future ahead after leaving her father's house. This will protect her marriage.
Miscellaneous
I would love to share few miscellaneous superstitions.
Do not use scissors empty as it will bring problems at home. The problems here are in terms of fight between relatives or between spouses.
Another belief is that if you sneezes or hiccups then someone out their is missing you badly or remembering you in certain way.
Furthermore, if you are dreaming death about someone then he or she will have a long life.
Well concluding these, I am also part of these superstition folklores. I think that superstitions is a big deal in Pakistan regardless of social class–even the educated, upper class is very superstitious. I also considers myself superstitious even though I understands they are illogical at times.
